RMCSD: Cross-Cultural Literacy in Peacekeeping Missions
Lieutenant Colonel Stefan Grotewohl, senior analyst at Allied Joint Forces Command Naples (JFC Naples) will present case studies from Bosnia, Kosovo and Mali examining the cultural dynamics of Peacekeeping missions over the past three decades. Cultural encounters have always been a daily occurrence for United Nations Peacekeepers. Integrated peacekeeping missions require our soldiers to work together with other peacekeepers from diverse backgrounds and with local populations they may be entirely unfamiliar with. LtCol Grotewohl will explore the importance of cross-cultural literacy to address challenges encountered with cultural differences. Following a 20-minute presentation, the audience is encouraged to challenge and discuss with relevant questions. These will be non-partisan discussions aimed at generating thought-provoking responses allowing all parties to become better informed on security and defence. Plan to join us Tuesday, 29 November 2022, 1900hrs (MT) via Zoom.
