On 4 May, 2021, at 41 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters in Calgary, Alberta, John Melbourne, CD, Honorary Colonel (Emeritus) (Past National President of The Royal Canadian Air Force Association and Past President and Life Member of Royal Alberta United Services Institute) was presented with the Canadian Forces Medallion for Distinguished Service (CFMDS) by the Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force Lieutenant General Al Meinzinger. The CFMDS award is the highest award of merit that is presented to a civilian by the Canadian Armed Forces to recognize distinguished services and performance.
The presentation was made by video conference at 41 Brigade and others in attendance included Major General Eric Kenny Commander 1 Canadian Air Division, Winnipeg, Brigadier General Paul Doyle Royal Canadian Airforce Air Attaché, London England and Colonel David Moar Wing Commander 4 Wing Cold Lake Alberta. In addition, to others in attendance was Honorary Colonel Stan Schwartz Honorary Colonel (Emeritus) Late of 409 Tactical Fighter Squadron who aided in staging the Event.
